About CECADIS

Objective
The Training, Advice, Documentation and Social Research Center (Cecadis) is a permanent program in Fundación General Ecuatoriana. Its main purpose is to be a catalyst for the learning process. It aims to develop persons and organizations in the disability field and in the social sector. Furthermore, it contributes to the improvement of the quality of intervention and management in the disability field.

Level of Action
It works at a national level and also has regional teams that do various training. It also has agreements with public and private organizations by which CECADIS contributes its services at all levels.

Services
CECADIS provides training, advice, documentation and social research.

• Training
  In the area of training it gives courses, seminars, workshops, processes of formation and updates in topics relating to disabilities, education, sociocultural services and NGO management. It has signed agreements with accredited institutions of higher learning and offers a DIPLOMA IN SOCIAL INTERVENTION at a university level and, soon an INTERNATIONAL MASTERS IN SOCIAL MANAGEMENT.

• Advice
  

  This service is oriented to organizations of the social sector their institutional development in:
  
  - The planning and implementation of programs and services
  - The elaboration and implementation of projects concerning research and development
  - The improvement of management systems.

• Documentation
  

  CECADIS offers students of social careers and to the public a Resource Centre with more than 4,000 publications, articles and documents about disability, social intervention, childhood, work, etc.
  
  We provide these services: Library research resources, copies, to borrow documents, consultation and update of documents via the internet.

• Social Research
  CECADIS gives its support to the continued improvement of concepts concerning topics of disabilities and education. This is done by doing constant bibliographical research in the field. We try to use the information generated in the implementation of programs, services and social projects that satisfy the needs of the population.
  
  Investigación "Inclusión Sociolaboral de Jóvenes con Discapacidad Intelectual" capacitados en la Fundación General Ecuatoriana y Mejoramiento de su Calidad de Vida": El Banco Mundial, con el fin de fomentar intervenciones estatales y privadas que tengan un impacto decisivo en los jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual, realizó un llamado a presentar proyectos de sistematización y análisis en el tema "Jóvenes e Inclusión Social", en marzo de 2003. La Fundación General Ecuatoriana  fue seleccionada para realizar la investigación "Inclusión Sociolaboral de Jóvenes con Discapacidad Intelectual y Mejoramiento en la Calidad de Vida". Los resultados fueron presentados al Banco Mundial, en febrero de 2004.
